Mixed Feelings
I don't know who's more anxious: me or my mom. She calls from Asia almost everyday.
Mom: "Any news yet?"
Me: "No."
Next day...
Mom: "Any news yet?"
Me: "No."
Or perhaps she just wants to see how high she can rack up her company's long-distance phone bill $$.
Boss: "[] Tai Tai (Mrs. [])! What is this American number you keep calling??"
Mom: "It's err... a very important client of mine, sir?..."
Back in the USA, it's been raining on the western front. I am hoping the Bay Area clouds will blow away as my college friend flies in from the east.
Then, my upcoming itinerary is as follows:
~ Flight to Asia ~
Mar. 20: Kellogg D-day *gulp*
Mar. 21: Cornell D-day *ahh*
Mar. 22: Chicago D-day *prays*
Mar. 24: UCLA delivers the official "ding" letter *cries*
~ Return to the USA ~
Mar. 30: Stanford D-day *help me*
Mar. 31: Yale D-day *sweat*
Apr. 3: MIT D-day *faints*

i predicting stanford for you all the way...though i am writing from sloan territory. ucla obviously dropped to ball on this one - in every other situation you seem completely magnetic to admissions committees.
kellogg d-day could really be any day, right? very tense.
good luck
Ok, though you didn't apply to Wharton I'm sure they wouldn't mind it if you replaced each one of those *xyz* emoticons with *fuck yeah*.
You know it - it'll be raining bings (I just invented it - bing, you know the opposite of ding). So it's gonna be bing, bing, bing, ..., bing all the way into april :-)
That's so funny about your mom - mine sends me "So, just wanted to see what's going on...." emails - every day!
Sounds like you have some fun plans ahead of you! And I don't think you have too much to worry about in the "ding" department. =o)
for me, its me calling my folks every two days to tell them that there's no news,yet.....
have fun at the Bund....any plans of venturing a tad southwards after the Bund is over ?
say hello to your mom and ask her if she is related to my mum in someway.....who sends me 1 sms a day wondering if the results are in, even after I have told her that the D day is far away ! :D
cheers
Ash
Do we have the same mom? Fortunately I got a decision early in December but I know the anxious feeling! I like your checklist of things to do (I love making checklists) but if it rains this weekend, it may not be worth it to wake up at 5AM to go ballooning. You can't go wrong with milk tea and I'm sure you'll have a blast in the city.
Since they have internet everywhere in Asia, I'm sure you'll hear great news while sightseeing. How cool would it be if you were on the Great Wall of China and received an admit phone call!
Since my wait is officially over, I'm anxious to hear your results. I'm sure you'll get into all of them!
YOU-WILL-MAKE-IT
so starting mrch 20th it wuld be interesting times for you :)
Best of luck and as sghma said YWMI
moms will be moms afterall. good luck with your apps
I don't know about this post. I think it's all wrong. You and I both know the time from Mar 21 through Apr 3 for you is just going to be one gi-normous period of, well, let's just call it "elation". You're already going to be riding into it on the high of your Kellogg acceptance (which will come in sometime by St Patty's Day, me thinks, so you can really booze it up), and then it's just going to be one admit followed by the next, a trip to Shanghai where you'll be picking up all kinds of crazy shit at the fake markets, and then you'll be coming back to find the covetted Stanford admit, at which point you'll come within an inch of spontaneous combustion out of pure glee, and then ride your dream life through emitting a kind of warm comforting glow upon all those around you. And after many years of dispensing your wisdom upon the world, the people (or maybe just your kids) will erect shrines to your greatness with photos of you looking driven and confident like the "leader" you became after Stanford. Then, nearing your deathbed, you will look back upon your life and think, "Wait, I was so caught up with Stanford I completely forgot about MIT. Did I even get in? Oh, what am I thinking, of course I got in. As if there could be any doubt..."
